I had a couple of lovely readers ask about these snack baskets I made in the weekend for the kids in this post.
They are super easy to make and you only need a few ingredients. I had a nearly whole loaf of bread that needed to be used up, so these are perfect for this.
What you need:
Bread slices
Onion
Bacon
Tinned spaghetti (or you could use baked beans)
Grated cheese
Salt and Pepper to taste
Method:
Dice onion and roughly chop the bacon.
Quickly fry in olive oil
In a bowl place your tinned spaghetti and add the cooked onion and bacon
Add salt and pepper to taste
Mix well
Remove crusts from bread and press down into a muffin tray
Spoon in the yummy spag/onion/bacon filling
Sprinkle with grated cheese
I baked these in the oven (Bake/180 deg) until the bread is golden brown and the cheese was bubbling.
Enjoy!

DeleteWhat a fabulous idea for kids or parties or any time really. I am so trying. xxx
ReplyDeleteMade these after I saw your post the other day for the kids and they ate them all! Which is amazing as my littlies don't usually eat much. I sprinkled a little bit of basil on and added Cajun spice to mine, yum. Thanks for the idea!
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of adding a bit of spice. Delish. x
DeleteI remember my dad making these for us when I was a child..funny how it takes a blog post to jog my memory :)

ReplyDeleteOh, I remember my mum making something similar for birthday parties when I was little! Yum! Will definitely have to try them out on my boys :) Thanks so much for joining in with Fun with Food!! x
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing this! I wanted to know more about them too.
ReplyDeleteSnack baskets is a great name for them. I make something similar for breakfast where you put egg and bacon and cheese sauce into the bread baskets and bake - they are totally lush! Yours sound quicker and easier though - my ones are a faff. x
Yum! Will definitely try these - Thankyou for sharing!
