A Christmas and New Years road trip...........
It was a very relaxing holiday. We headed for the Far North for a few days in a resort with my youngest sister her family and my dad (my brother and his family joined us later on in the week). We had a lot of rain to begin with as we were experiencing the tail end of a cyclone coming down from the Pacific. Christmas day was spent indoors, playing with new toys, watching Christmas TV, and of course feasting! After we left (?!) the resort the sun came out - thankfully.
I hardly had my camera out the entire time we were away. Most of the photos above are from family or Mr H's phone (so please excuse the quality). I really enjoyed my time with my family and the joy of being in the sun with Mr H and my children. We spent a lot of time at various beaches, swimming in a favourite lake, we visited a beautiful winery, made a special visit to our family land, swam some more, fished, enjoyed picnics and ran about with the children. Dinner out on New Years but home early while my dad and his partner partied till the early hours - he popped home briefly to pick up his saxophone - always the musician! There were plenty of late nights for all and missed daytime naps so we came back sun kissed but tired.
The children were amazing with all the driving and different places we stayed in. It really was a great way to start the summer holidays.
how wonderful your time away looks! And cooking up the fish you caught that day must have been great!!

DeleteI love a summer road trip. Yours looks like it was great fun. So nice that you were able to spend it with extended family, too. Great memories for the kids (and adults).

My favourite thing about the school holidays growing up were the road trips I took with my whanau up and down the North Is. We did the same thing with our kids before moving to Oz.
ReplyDeleteAm most impressed that your girl caught a fish!

It was so exciting watching her reel it in. I had my fingers crossed it was'nt seaweed - that was all I was catching! xo
DeleteJust fabulous! The Road Trip is my favourite thing to do. You guys are much better fishermen than us - look at those beauties! x
