Kids live here

A few weeks ago Jen from One Jen day wrote a great post about a group project called Kids were here.  She took photos of her surroundings that involve being a mum to gorgeous twin boys.

She used the words "messy, imperfect, misplaced chaos".  That sums it up perfectly to me - a life and household with children in it.

If you were to visit our house, you would know that there are children about.  From the tyre swing as you pull in the drive to the bikes and toys scattered about the garden.

I wandered around the house and garden today taking snapshots of what sums up our home life with children present.  In particular two little boys that albeit small they have a very strong presence.  Bell on the other hand is not so focal.  She ferrets all her treasures away in her room, away from the gaze and small hands of her brothers.

I spend huge amounts of my time tidying up.  Some days in feels continuous.  I always try to tidy everything away by the end of the day.  Bikes and outdoor toys under the eaves of the house, bedrooms tidy so it can all be "undone" the next day.

Kids most definitely live here!

Happy weekending!

  1. So many vehicles in so many places! No children here, so I'm not sure what the reason is for the strange things in strange places that I find. I blame the mess bunny - he is very messy!

  2. Oh I love this idea of capturing all the little kid detritus all over the house. I particularly love the dino in the pansy garden, would make a great blog header. They just no how to leave trails all over every room don't they? mel x

  3. Magic!! All of it!! Yes the cleaning cycle is continuous but I've almost become quite rhythmic about it and move about the house with my hands reaching and putting away like I' m performing some sort of dance! Such a beautiful slice of the world you have there. Hope your weekend is grand x x

  4. My eldest is a bit like yours, everything is kept, quite neatly I must say, in her bedroom! Little Bea on the other hand lives in every room in the house, she's even taken to playing in our bedroom, because its bigger! They do both tidy up after themselves which is good! They are only little for a short while, all too soon I will be wishing I could trip over a barbie doll but they and the girls will have flown the nest! :) x

  7. I love the first photo with the little red car under the vegies, looks like its been parked there a while, just like the old car heaps you see out on farms. There is less child stuff ( although Miss 9 is still very much a Babies and Barbies girl) but there is lots of teenage stuff. Lots and lots of teenage girl makeup and nail polish and what seems to be 397 hair brushes, bands and bobby pins.
