There are a few things that I love collecting, Crown Lynn crockery - in particular cups and saucers, vintage napkins and retro linen tea towels. Below are some recent additions.
The saucers are from the Crown Lynn Apollo series but the cups I don't think are Crown Lynn. They have an aged look about them and are an off white colour. All have been hand painted. Quirky and I really love them.
I bought these off Trademe - via one of my favourite bookmarked Sellers who is local so is happy to drop off on her way into town.
I love a pile of vintage napkins. I'm going to try my hand at making some of these into bunting.
And linen tea towels. The Harrods one isn't an oldie but I love Harrods items so this one has snuck in.
I haven't found anything good in the op shops for ages so found these online again. I love hunting out online linen as it is cheap to post, you just need to ask about any stains or fabric tears and be firm on what your top dollar amount is. Some linens are ridiculously priced.
The Australian Birds one will be added to the Travelling Linen Stash when it heads to Australia (I understand the box is on it's way to Auckland after leaving Hamilton). It is a sweet one with a crochet border - have never seen that before and it doesn't look like it has been used.
What do you enjoy collecting?
CHAIRS! for a while there I reckon I had more chairs than people in my phone book! Hubby was beside himself, but since moving to greener pastures (bigger land but smaller house) I've had to give many away :(
ReplyDeleteI also love quirky brooches. xxx
Snap on the chairs. Same here. When we moved to the country we also moved to a smaller house. I have chairs stored in my brothers house. I love old chairs xo
Deletestunning collection BTW, I adore those vintage napkins and the teacups! you scored x
ReplyDeleteI wish that I found such beautiful things as you do! All that seems to be in charity shops here these days is junk (just my opinion of course!) I think that it is because people have become intent on selling their things at car boot sales or online on auction sites and so on, they want the money rather than making a donation. Personally I would much rather donate than have the hassle of selling things! I love your tea towel collection, I'm sure that the Australia one will be popular when the stash travels overseas! xx
ReplyDeleteI have a bit of a habit looking for fabrics..... I like seventies duvet covers, too. And napkins. And yarn. And china and chandeliers.... oops, that's rather a lot but I honestly don't buy as often as I see. Particularly love your napkins! Cx
ReplyDeleteWow, you have found some lovely things, it seems to be very hard to find lovely things lately in UK charity shops I don't think people donate quite so much stuff any more.
ReplyDeleteAMAZING!!! All of it pal! WOW! You know that is the prettiest set of cups and saucers that I have seen in a long time! Absolutely brilliant with that stippled red design on those cups! I hope that you have a wonderful week! Nicole xoxo
ReplyDeleteLovely items. I find here in NZ people are quite greedy with their pricing - even at garage sales! I haven't tried looking on trade me for glass, china or linen yet, it could be a slippery slope!!
ReplyDeleteRegarding the other commenters on the UK charity shops, I found that for a few weeks there would be slim pickings, then it would pick up again. I just popped in on a regular basis. Also re UK charity shops - they throw away any vintage linen that comes in!! I was asking after some last year & was told any donated goes straight into the rag bag to be thrown away! The woman & I both commented about how many beautiful vintage pieces were being lost!
Totally agree about the pricing! xo
DeleteYou have a great eye, there are some lovely things there. Bunting made from embroidered napkins is a really lovely idea. I so often see these in our charity shops and think about all the work that went into them, but then I never really know what to do with them.Bunting would be gorgeous, do show us if you make it! Love those cups too. x
ReplyDeleteOh those embroidered linens had me weak at the knees! Looking forward to seeing your bunting!
ReplyDeleteLovely finds. Right now I'm trying not to add to any of my collections but of course if I see something just right I'll bring it home. I'm a sucker for linen too.
ReplyDeleteBlankets, especially wool ones. I have several vintage plaid ones that would make great pillows, but I can't bring myself to cut them. I also have several knitted and crocheted ones - not old, but they are beautiful designs. Good thing I don't live where its warm all year long!
ReplyDeleteI love wool blankets..........and knitted, and crocheted ones too! I feel the same way about cutting them up. xo
