Indoors

We have been in hibernation mode this weekend.  It has been cold!  We stayed indoors for most of it.  The novelty of the change of season is still here.  No climbing of walls or cabin fever ....... yet.

This weekend has been all about...................

Pikelets and cups of tea for lunch
Homemade vegetable soup
Weekend papers
Keeping warm - roaring fires and heaters on in the bedrooms
Toys everywhere, from one end of the house to the other
Winter jackets
Exploring faraway places from the comfort of our couch
Movies
Cold drizzly days
Autumn leaves
and unmade beds.

Still here

This has been my longest break from blogging since I started, it wasn't intentional.  I guess life just gets in the way sometimes.  My camera hasn't been to hand, as much and when  it has been I have just wanted to take in every moment as it unfolds in front of me instead of witnessing it behind the lens.

But I miss this space when I am not here and the wonderful blogs I follow.

So I'm creeping back in, and am hoping you are still here.  How are you by the way?  Autumn is unfolding in our neck of the woods and it is beautiful.  How are things in your patch?

Good morning!

Our clocks went back on Sunday so thankfully it is not so dark in the morning.  The boys wake up early, so it feels a little less brutal if the sun is up too.

I love having a wander around the garden first thing, the chickens are always at the fence waiting to be fed.  The early morning light is always beautiful this time of year when Autumn is lingering.

And now it is the school holidays, we have lot of plans, lots of things to do.  It won't be "slow" - we intend on making the most of the still warm weather as the next lot of school holidays will be in the midst of Winter, so then we can hibernate a little more.

I plan on putting in my winter veges and making some more progress on my quilt and baking, lots of baking.  All the things I love to do when I'm at home.

So wherever you are, have a wonderful week xo

Weekending..........

This weekend I've...........

Started my retro quilt.  I have been collecting and cutting retro sheets and Fat Quarters.  I have a favourite blue flower sheet which will be my backing.  Tonight I plan on pinning and sometime this week I will start to everything together.  Can't wait to show you my progress.

Enjoyed dinner out with friends Friday night for cocktails and fresh seafood.  The very best of combinations I think.

My amazing friend Leigh gave me a Crown Lynn Swan.  She always gives me such beautiful gifts.  And this completes my set of 3.

Bell and I had a girls morning in town, cold drinks and warm pastries.

I op shopped and found pink Pyrex and retro spice canisters and salt and pepper shakers.

Our school gala was on Saturday afternoon, the boys had a great time and loaded up on sugary treats, as you do.

Reading old cookbooks, loving a particular one from the early 1980's.

And later on Mr H and I enjoyed a quiet night in.

Sunday we stayed in PJ's till noon.  I did a bit of gardening and then spent the rest of the afternoon building Lego with Tom.  I think I have earned my Lego Degree by now.

A laid back weekend after a busy week.  Even working "just part time" makes my weekdays full, not to mention the constant picking up and dropping off of children for kindy, school, swimming, appointments and errands.  I really look forward to my weekends.  There hasn't been a lot of time for blogging or visiting favourite blogs, but with the cooler months just around the corner I expect that will change when we start to spend more time indoors.

Have a great week! xo

Nice things and changes

With Easter and the first week of the school holidays under our belt things have been busy.  Not frantic, just family life, running around here and there with the kids.  The first week went quickly so I'm going to saviour this week a little more.

Here are some nice things from the past week.......

Craving colour at the moment so new cushions have been bought.

And a new rug.

Feijoas (Pineapple Guava) season in full swing.  My nephew dropped of another box, just when I had nearly gotten to the bottom of the last one!  This week I have been making Feijoa crumble and sponge cake.  More jam is on the cards I think.

A parcel from overseas and a friend.  Sewing goodies galore.  I just love the little wicker basket.

I have finished sew school now and will update you next week of my progress.  I have a few projects on the go that I'm hoping to finish soon.  I've been spending a lot of time in the garden lately and enjoying books and movies in the evenings.  I don't know if it's the change of season and recent bugs but I've been feeling so tired in the evenings.

A very sweet pin cushion - love the chicken print.

More washi tape.......

And new to me fabric tape.  I've bought it for gifts before but have never used it before.....any ideas?

Pins for my quilting.

Hazy afternoons and leaves disappearing from the vines.  I love the sight of washing hung on the line.

We have been moving furniture off the grass and back onto the gravel for the colder months.  Clearing and weeding gardens and lots of tidying up around the house.

Just love these three.  Bell turned fourteen this week, can you believe it?

I'll back tomorrow with the 52 project although from now on it will be a little different.

I'll just be photographing the boys.  I have noticed a shift with Bell lately.  She has been wanting more independence and with that she spends less and less time hanging out with us.  It has become more noticeable in the past month or so.  A letting go has been needed on both sides.  She is craving more freedom so with that I won't be including her in the portrait project anymore a decision that was decided between us both.  My girl is growing up.

Have a wonderful weekend xo
