Over the fence

Notice anything different???

The view over our back fence has changed a little.  The vineyard is undergoing a few changes, sections of vines are being removed to make way for new grape varieties.

But first, the soil is turned and corn is to be planted.  Mr H was loving the green bare land........somewhere to practice his golf swing.

Beyond this patch are further hectares of grape vines.

Now we are just watching for the corn to start showing.  Love the sound of corn fields rustling when there is a night breeze.  I just try not to think of the film "Children of the Corn".

Over the other side of the fence there are new vines going in..........

And these lovely vines are in the organic section - no harmful sprays used here.  This area always looks a little wilder.

This time of year the vineyard gets busier, there is a lot to do before the busy Wine Vintage Season hits in February.  That's when I become a Wine Widow.......both the boys were born during "Vintage".  How is that for timing???

Pinch myself sometimes that we live here.

Happy week lovelies!

When all is quiet...........

Sunset over our back fence..........

The night time routine is nearly done, little eyes are tired, close to slumber and sweet dreams.

Before windows and doors are closed for the night I wander round the house and garden, packing away toys and making sure animals are safe for the night.

Another busy day is at an end. Tonight clean sheets are calling, but can wait as this is the time of evening that I like to potter, watch a movie, read and write blog posts, drink tea, eat chocolate, sew, chat to Mr H without interruption about our day and occasionally fold the washing.

I will go to bed too late and say this as I finally lay down for the night and when I wake a little bleary eyed in the morning I will be thinking "I really should go to bed earlier" but know the same thing will happen again that night.

Are you a night owl?

What do you like to do when the house is quiet? - keep it PG please! xo

Sunsets and huffy puffy

I've started doing a bit of huffy puffy in the evening.  I'm starting off with walks and will soon hope to break into a gentle "jog".  I've dusted off my sneakers and have been leaving Mr H with the kids while pooch and I jump the fence into the vineyard.

It's the perfect place to exercise.  Safe, quiet, no cars or people.  All that jiggling that will happen once I start jogging won't be seen by any passing eyes.  Perfect for singing, cartwheels and jazz hands too.

It's been a tough week, George has not been well.  There has been a doctors and A&E visit along with hours of night coughing, vomiting and unbelievable two year old behaviour.  It has been hard going.

But now it's the weekend and a long weekend at that.  I'm looking forward to having Mr H around a bit more to share in the parenting load.  Hooray for modern day Dads!

So for me, my walks this week have been a bit of a saviour.  Much needed calm in the midst of a crazy week.

I raced back to get my camera tonight.  The night sky as the sun was setting was pretty spectacular.

Here's to a great weekend.

I hope you have a good one!

Things I'm Loving

Loving Holly Roach's art prints.  This one of a Fantail (native New Zealand bird) hovering over a Hydrangea bush is my favourite.

Swimming lessons for Tom.  He is in his third term of lessons and loves it.  But only since I have swapped him back to his original teacher.  It makes such a difference when they are with someone they know well and love.

Hanging out with George while Tom swims.  Last term I spent most of the time running around after him and not being able to watch Tom properly.  George would spend the entire lesson trying to throw equipment, peoples shoes or himself into the pool.  I now keep him strapped into the stroller with a full lunch box of snacks to keep him happy.  Now we ALL enjoy going.

Making the most of this glorious evening.........dinner outside tonight.

After dinner walks in the vineyard.  It's a good wind down for the boys especially.  George is not easy to get to sleep in the evening.  So I'm working out (slowly) that like most boys, they need loads of physical activity during the day.  We have done park, playcentre and beach trips this week.  And making the most of the still warm and now blue sky days.  I'm not sure if it's working for George but it's certainly making me tired!

Bell gets to work on her dance routines..............

And practice the ever popular "Gangnam Style" - is it still a favourite in your house?

And we are preparing for a new furry arrival.  I will introduce you to him next week.

And I love it when my week includes a bit of something Retro.  My friend Leigh came round this week for morning tea and bought with her this wee gem for me.  Mr H shook is head, but I love it.  Could you imagine having a full set of these.........against a no doubt orange and brown flowery kitchen!  That is some serious colour clash.........groovy!!!

Happy weekending!

An evening walk

Last night after dinner we went for our first evening walk in the vineyard since the warmer weather has started creeping in.

We bundled George up in a warm blanket and into his pram as there was a coolish wind blowing.

Tom and puppy Charlie ran ahead so excited to be running about outside as sun set over the hills.

I can't wait to make this an evening ritual.  A nice ending to the day.
