I've been busily cutting and hand sewing Christmas ornaments for the Kiwi Christmas Ornament swap.
I looked up a You Tube tutorial on how to Blanket Stitch and off I went. I purchased felt, cut up doilies, sifted through my lace bits and hunted out Bell's button collection.
I've started off with the pale cream felt and am about to start on the more traditional red and green colours.
I love being creative and am really enjoying hand sewing. I don't do near enough as much craft as I would like. I find children and house "stuff" always gets in the way (and evenings I just don't have the attention span!). I always tell myself I will sit down and do some craft when jobs are done but there will always be something that needs doing or seeing too.
So doing the swap with other participants and with a timeline has been great as I have made myself put time aside. Even if it is just small moments through out the day where I can cut or pin. It all adds up and I love it.
Are you making anything at the moment? How do you manage your time when it comes to your favourite type of craft?
I love these little ornaments!!! They are great, and yes fitting in any crafting time is difficult at the moment so I've been making some simple twine wrapped wire ornaments for christmas! Anything hand-craft and portable seems to be the go at the moment!!! Loving your idea...might have to try it xx
ReplyDeleteOh these are cute! Lucky swap partners. My crafting is mainly in small blocks, a bit here and a bit there!
ReplyDeleteYour ornaments look lovely Elaina! My crafting and making goes in fits and starts, nothing for months and then loads, and I flit from one thing to another, sewing, then something like making christmas decorations, crochet, making a wreath. I'm just all over the place, and so is my stuff! xx
ReplyDeleteThese are so lovely, well done for making the time to craft. mel x

These are lovely.
ReplyDeleteWell done for finding the time to make craft. I wish I could manage it!
They're so pretty! I try to make time for something crafty every day. I really need it in my life, I don't feel right without it.
ReplyDeleteYour decorations are looking gorgeous! I have been reading your blog for a little while now and really enjoy your posts. I am the same - ordinarily everything else that needs doing takes priority over crafting... I did an ornament swap a few years ago as well, it was so good to sign up and commit to making for several other participants! I got it all done within the time frame and it was FUN! Your swap partners are going to be thrilled with what arrives in their letter boxes :o)

So sweet! I'm crocheting away, still! :) x
ReplyDeleteThese are beautiful friend!!! Oh my! Do I just love these!!!! So perfect in every way!!!! And as far as crafting goes I squeeze it in at night and when the beans are working on projects. I need to make or I get restless!!! You need to make a bunch of these and make a whole themed little tree!!! Great work and all the best today!!!
ReplyDeleteSo cute! Well done you - I am sure your partners will love receiving them! I try to grab wee pockets here or there but mainly do some "crafting" at night after kids are in bed and work!
ReplyDeleteThey're a lovely project.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea of a Christmas Swap, lucky swap partners.
These are lovely! I've been crocheting away every night but keeping mine secret till I've posted them in case anyone is peeking!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous Elaina!!! Well done you. The recipient will love them. I find time in the evenings to do the things I enjoy when the Kids are in bed. I've been doing a bit of blanket stitching too making a little softie for "Softies for Mirabel". And now that's done I'm back knitting Flynn an Octopus :-) Mel x
