Around here

I've finished setting up my sewing space.  It looks really cosy.  There is a lot of natural light and sun filters in from early in the morning.  My materials are tucked away in the draws, but that doesn't mean that I don't find them thrown about the room on occasion.  And the pin cushion is a constant drawcard.

I have a corner spot for some of the boys toys.  The chairs sunny position is great for reading a book and drinking a cuppa and I can watch the boys play in the front garden from here.  Bell likes to use the space to practice her dancing in too.  Mr H still has his dart board up, which I have decorated with bunting, ha!

Channelling my inner Julia Child..........butter with everything.

Moving things round in the kitchen.  Glass milk jugs on display.

Doesn't take a lot these days to make me happy.  Bubbles and chocolate will do it.  I branched out and tried Lindt chocolate.  No where near as good as Mr Whittaker's.

My well worn Edmonds cookbook.  Complete with graffiti.

Pikelet's for morning tea, smothered with Nutella.  I'm a jam and cream girl myself.

Teachers only day for Tom on Monday - Pikelets, a movie and Lego were requested.

Signs of Autumn creeping in.  Leaves on the water tank are turning crimson.

But it has still been hot with only one day of rain in the weekend.  We are still swimming and eating outside.

We have two new family members.  Alfie and Robert.  The cutest little Guinea Pigs I have ever seen.  I'm a bit smitten.  I take them out of their home during the day for cuddles and take vegetable treats into them throughout the day.

Hope you are having a good week!

  2. oh, your guinea pigs are weeny tiny things! Mine are like giant slippers; rabid consumers of veg. But I am a bit shocked by your negative comments on the Lindt!! (my favourite chocolate IN THE WORLD!). How about you try the plain Lindt Lindor in the red packaging and I'll try your Mr Whittakers?? haha xx Deb

  6. What a lovely glimpse into your lives! I am a self confessed Lindt lover but would agree that the bar you show is not great. All Lindor varieties are sickly sweet and sticky. You might want to try the plain old milk chocolate (not the double milk one), it is divine but maybe not available in NZ. I have never heard of Mr Whittaker, must look out for it and try. I miss having guinea pigs, I had two when I was a child. Enjoy your new multipurpose room, it looks very inviting. Cx

  8. I always look forward to your posts, even more so since we have left Gisborne (Lucas' mum), they are very inspiring and relaxing at the same time. I love being able to have a peek back at the gorgeous Gisborne countryside, and your pictures and style of writing get me every time!

  12. What a gorgeous space your craft room is, so sunny.
And that vineyard gets me every single time! Love. The graffiti, Tom's tinkering hands…some much to love.
BUT, I'm deeply concerned about the new members. I was smitten with our rodent (bunnies) friends too, and I still take them veggies throughout the day, fill their water, make sure they are walked etc…..and now that drive me bananas. I've never buy a dependant animal again. x

  14. We had two guinea pigs when I was a kid. One was named Rosalyn, after the babysitter in Calvin and Hobbes. I still remember when she died and we buried her in the back of the yard near the compost pile. (But not too close!) They make such a distinct squeal! Its like a "ree-ree-ree" - darn loud for such a little creature.

  20. Lovely to have a place set up for your sewing, it certainly makes it easier to want to sew and for the family to have their dining table back for dinner as usually that's the way it ends up being. Regards Kathy A, Brisbane, Australia
