For the love of Crown Lynn!

For those of you who are regular readers you will know that I love Crown Lynn crockery and Crown Lynn Swans.  If you asked Mr H he may say it is more of an obsession!

My granny cabinet is full with my crockery and I think I may have any mentioned in that post that I was "at capacity"........but its always possible to squeeze a few more in.  I do know that my collection is quite modest compared to other collectors and I'm constantly telling myself "no" when I see it in shops or online.

I came across these four Crown Lynn saucers and tulip cups last week.  I have never seen the pattern before but love love the retro flowers and colours.  I would be keen to know if any Crown Lynn collectors out there could tell what the pattern is?

They are all in excellent condition and the pattern on the saucers are raised slightly too, which again I have never seen before.

So after moving a few things around they are now sitting very happily in the granny cabinet.

Things I'm loving............washi tape craft

This week Bell and I have been enjoying getting crafty with my washi tape stash.

We have decorated jars and bottles and made washi tape bunting.  I've also started decorating some plain recycled paper labels to add to gifts.  I'm currently eyeing up a few new designs to add to my collection.

The best thing about this has been Bell's interest in the washi tape and being able to sit down with her and do a bit of craft and have a natter.

Are you a washi tape nut?  Are you up to anything crafty at the moment?  Have you any washi tape ideas you wish to pass on?

Happy weekending!

Packaged in the best materials available.
Labelled with a full list of ingredients.
Guaranteed to give excellent results.

GE Free.

So when the lovely people there asked if I would like to try their new Lip Balm I of course said yes!

I have been an avid lip balm or "chapstick" user since primary school days.........seriously.  You only have to look at my old school photos to see I was in the chapped lips brigade.  Come winter my lips would always get so dry and cracked, this of course always coincided with school photos!

Thankfully lip balms are alot kinder these days.  I'm not really a lipstick wearer now (unless on a night out) but I constantly wear lip balms and always like to have one to hand.

I have been using the Eco Store Peppermint lip balm and it is divine.  It's not sticky and it truly makes your lips feel nourished and does not disappear 5 minutes after you apply it.

"Plant-based intensive balm, with natural beeswax to help protect against the elements and sweet almond oil to soothe and deeply nourish dry lips."

Where the fairies play

Since the mushrooms appeared in our back yard (I decided to play it safe and NOT eat them) I have been talking to Tom about fairies.  I want there to be more to their play than trains, planes and automobiles!  We decided that as there are mushrooms in the garden, there must be fairies.  So we decided to make a fairy garden in one of the half wine barrels we have.  I have been collecting a few bits and pieces, some of which I have put away somewhere "safely" but have yet to find!

The fairy cottage is my favourite find.  It's really heavy so difficult for little hands to lift, so it should stay put.  I found it online on Trademe along with the mushrooms.  The other bits like the coloured stones are easily found in bargain/craft stores.

A visit to the garden shop to buy the flowers and we were all set.  We will add to it (will plant some moss next) no doubt and I imagine some things will go "walkies" but I want this to be a tactile garden, Tom is so gentle with everything and I'm hoping this will rub off on George who is anything but gentle.  Tom finds the cottage fascinating and ever the practical boy he wants to know how the fairies will get into the cottage if everything is closed tight....................magic I tell him.

We have another small barrel which we will fill with soil and plants and pop some dinosaurs into.  A few succulents and pools of mud will be perfect for the boys to plodge some plastic dinos around in.

It's all about nurturing imagination and showing them by taking care of the plants and flowers we can have a special place in our garden to visit and hopefully entice the fairies to come a stay a while.

Is there any magic in your garden?

Things I'm loving.........eight little things

Inspired by Tania.  Eight little things....................

  1. A fairy garden in the making.
  2. Colour - with everything turning autumnal colours of orange, red and brown it's nice to still have pops of colour.
  3. We dusted off the art box.  Treasure galore.  We need to do this more often.
  4. A visit to the hairdresser for me......I've joined the fringe club.
  5. Painted toes,  love this colour.  They are going to be hidden away in socks soon.  My toes are starting to feel the cold this week.
  6. The winter blankets are coming out.
  7. An op shopped wicker basket with the coolest lining.  Perfect for my favourite magazines.
  8. A new cookbook by Nici Wickes.  She came to our town this week to do a cooking demonstration.  Mr H bought us tickets to see her.  She is even better in real life!  I was a bit star struck when I got her to sign my book.  Just as well Mr H was with me.  I just stood there and giggled......and mostly likely went red!
Doing anything special this weekend?  Term 2 starts for us on Monday.  I'm ready.........I think?!

Happy weekending!
