Muddy Mouse review

I was really pleased when Manon from Muddy Mouse contacted me to see if I would like to try her Iron-on patches.  Anyone with children, and I think in particular boys, will know all about the "knees situation" which seems to occur.  Boys like to skid and slide onto their knees and their poor clothing takes a punishing.  Manon has three boys so she is an expert!

Tom's favourite jeans have the tell tale sign of skidding and sliding so they were to be our first item of clothing to try the patches out on.

We were sent a selection of patches to try.  My favourites would have to be the two sausage dog patches..........very cute.  Thank you Manon, we love them!

For Tom's jeans he chose the shark and alien patches.  These are VERY easy to apply (instructions below) - I  also love that the patches are eco-friendly, and that my boys clothing will be able to be passed on and used again............no wastage and money well spent.

Muddy Mouse Patches - REPAIR AND/OR ENHANCE.

We will be putting aside a couple of patches for future repairs (of which I know there will be many) and the others we will be using on other items of clothing just for fun!

Click through to the Muddy Mouse website to see the entire range of patches - not are they eco-friendly but they are really affordable with prices starting at (Canadian) $3.75 - you can order online and WORLDWIDE SHIPPING is available.  The website is also super easy to navigate with lots of useful information about Muddy Mouse and their patches.

Please follow the instructions below closely for best results.
  1. Place the garment flat on a hard, flat surface, preferably an ironing board.
  2. Put your iron on 2 or 3 points. Start with position **. You can always put your iron on high later. Do NOT use the steam function.
  3. Put the patch with the backside on the garment, image facing up, in the right position. Always place it on a flat surface. Never over a button, zipper or other thickened part in the fabric.
  4.  Place a standard, clean, white sheet of paper or thin cotton cloth over the patch to protect your garment, the iron and the patch.
  5. Firmly press on the patch for 60 seconds on both sides, gently moving the iron and using intervals, taking care not to burn the patch or garment.
  6. Let it cool down. If the patch does not stick the first time, increase the temperature of the iron and repeat steps 4 and 5.

To op shop we go!

I've been in town a bit this week and popped into a couple of op shops to have a nosey around and found my best bargain of the year.  A KitchenAid toaster for $8.......YES $8!!!!  It's in excellent condition, clean and has been checked by a certified electrician.

My old toaster went into retirement a couple of years ago and I never replaced it, our kitchen is "compact" so I thought it would be good to have one less appliance.  We have been using the oven grill, but Bell and I tend to burn a lot of bread as we place the bread in and then wander off and forget about it.  I don't know who is more excited about this purchase.  Bell or I?!

I'm hoping whoever got rid of this has a matching blender they want to discard too.

Second find of the day - two single retro sheets.  In great condition.  I pass on a lot of sheets as they tend to be really worn but these are great.  Love the colours and pattern.  Thinking of sewing these into pillowcases.

And as I feel that you can never have too many Crown Lynn saucers I picked up two matching pairs - my excuse is that I have Crown Lynn cups at home without saucers to match up with these.  I was restrained though and left a few behind.

I love a retro gardening book or two and found these three.  The Herb and Kitchen Garden book is a goodie.  Something to browse over in the weekend.

Been op shopping lately?  What did you rescue?

What is your best ever find?

Sunday

Sunny Sunday.  Thank you for the morning sun and thank you for staying around long enough for me to get all my outdoor tasks ticked off the list.

In our backyard, in the corner was a triangle patch where my hydrangeas have failed to thrive and where the cat likes to dig around in.  So over the last few weeks when I had time and the weather played ball I have been out there, pulling weeds, laying down weed mat, relocating bucket loads of pebbles and turning soil along the fence line.  Today I re-homed my hydrangeas to the newly dug up garden bed and also added some potted colour, using old bricks to section off the area.

The (waterproof) lanterns have been up all week - and I finally got to set up the table and chair set that I found on the cheap in a sale.  Outdoor cushions added for comfort and colour.  Great spot for an afternoon cuppa, perfect place to sit and watch the kids play while drinking something cold as the sun goes down.  I told my sister who will be visiting next week that it is going to be our "wine time" corner, ha!

Forecast was for afternoon showers, which did eventually arrive, then the temperature dropped so we got the fire going, poured a couple of drinks and started preparing an early dinner.  We ate at 4.30pm, roast pork with the most delicious crackling.  It's been a really good weekend.

Enjoy the remainder of your weekend, what have you been up to?

I hope your week ahead will be a good one x

Saturday

We woke early this morning to blue skies and whistling wind.  I'm on breakfast duties Saturday morning, so Mr H gets tea and toast in bed - my turn on Sunday!

We headed out early, first stop was the farmers market then the supermarket, farmlands for chicken pellets and then the botanic gardens to give the kids a run around.

Mr H and I voted........election day here in N.Z.

Then a short drive out to the beach to deliver Bell for a sleepover, and a pit stop with the boys for ice cream before heading home.

The afternoon was spent at home, pottering, reading, 4 loads of washing done and an early dinner and movie for the boys.  Early to bed for them tonight.  Gin and tonics and a movie for us bigger kids.

I haven't checked but I'm really hoping this weather sticks around for tomorrow as I have some gardening time planned.

This week will be the last week of school here before the school holidays start and my sister arrives on Tuesday from Brisbane.  Glad this weekend is a quiet one as next week will be busy.

Summer, I can feel that you are just around the corner and I can't wait!

Enjoy your weekend wherever you are!
