Things I'm loving.........loving my inner granny

Loving my inner Granny..................

Do you have one?  I have noticed since I started blogging there are so many of us who love things that were just the everyday for our Grandmas.

We are embracing and returning to the ways of our Grandmas be it through baking, sewing, crochet, knitting, gardening and preserving etc.  Ways that thankfully can be passed onto our children.

Do you have an "Inner Granny"?  Were your skills passed down or did you learn as you went?

Happy weekending!

  1. Beautifully written friend...I couldn't have said it better! I think there is a movement occurring and I am happy to be a part of it. Such a wonderful thing to return back to more simple times. Your inner granny photos are jaw dropping! I love each one of them...my grandmothers did it all. My grandmother taught me how to garden and bake. She sewed and painted as well. Before she passed she gave me her old easel and paint brushes. I think the hardest thing about living in these times is staying true to yourself..not all mamas like everything old and handmade and there is always societal pressures placed on our kids when we live in or near cities. With that being said I plan to keep doing what we are doing here and hope that one day may kids will have a pocket full of wonderful skills that they can use to better themselves and the world! Cheers! Nicole

  3. I love being in touch with my inner granny and I love that so many of us are returning to the rituals and pastimes of yesteryear! Trends always come full circle. Our grannies were resourceful, resilient and creative - what's not to admire. I wish desperately I still had a granny in my life - there are so many things I'd ask her to teach me. Blog Land fills a void in that sense - I'm learning from people like you! xx
PS We made your savory (spaghetti) snacks last week - HUGE hit with my kids...plus I took them to work for the staff morning tea!!!!

  4. Oh boy, I sure do have an inner Granny. It's funny how the tides have turned. Back when I first became a mum a little over 20 years ago I used to get judged and criticised for wanting to follow in my nana's and mums footsteps. When all of my friends were heading out into the world I was content to be a mother and housewife. Not a lot has changed for me but it's comforting to know that so many other women share my passions and desires now. I've finally found some kindred spirits in life :)

  7. I've always had the inner granny I think - I was a nerdy knitter/crocheter/stitcher at 16, the collecting came a bit later though - but I know it makes our house more of a home ... me being me!

  8. My inner granny was squealing and clicking her false teeth in response to all that granny goodness! And that pic of your sewing basket has reminded me to tell you I haven't not forgotten about sending you some fabric, life his is just chaotic as stuff is being packed, including my sheets. Give me a few weeks and I'll be on it. mel x

  10. who'd have thunk that all those thick floral sheets, crochet pot holders, shelves of handmade pasta sauces and bread fresh out of the oven would come back into (oh so lovely) style.
