A quilt sampler

My completed quilt sampler............

Ok, it's really a placemat, that I'm going to sit my sewing machine on but it is the perfect thing to start off on when learning to quilt.  So let's call it a "quilt sampler".  I love it and am feeling a bit chuffed with myself.

From this I have learnt the basics of measuring, cutting, working with strips, rectangles, squares and triangles.  Basic machine quilting and binding.

I have really enjoyed my lessons with the help and patience of Fiona and Noeline at More than Fabric.  Thank you so much ladies, you have been amazing!

I'm going to keep up with my lessons and have a Tote Bag workshop booked in for January, it will be a mum and daughter day as I'm taking Bell with me to sew as well.

After the silly season is out of the way I plan on sewing my very first quilt using my retro sheet scraps and Fat Quarters. My first attempt will be a simple one using lots and lots of squares.  No doubt my unpicker will get another workout!  Can't wait.....

Happy making!
