A sewing day

Today Bell and I had a mother/daughter sewing lesson with Fiona from More than Fabric.

I needed to learn how to do a zip pouch for an upcoming blog swap and knew that Fiona would be able to help.........thank goodness as I have never sewn in a zip before.

It was great to have some one on one time with Bell as well.  She loves sewing and I was surprised at how competent  she is - she finished her pouch before me and I don't think there was any unpicking needed on her part......unlike me.

Bell made the pencil case in black and white with the red polka dot lining and mine is the flowery number with the pop of yellow polka dot lining.  We got fancy and quilted our pouches too.

I can't wait to make more and look forward to using my skills to sew my pouches for the upcoming swaps.

Thank you Fiona!

  8. I mastered zips in pouches last year - they had scared me for so long. This is a great tutorial that I have used for an easy pouch and zipper too.

  11. How neat you could do this with your girl. Zippered purses are so handy and once you can make them you find yourself whipping them up quite often - they make great little last minute gifts. xx

  12. I considered taking part in this swap, but I have neither a sewing machine, or know how to sew in a zip. I wonder if they'd accept a hand stitched number?!!! Yours both look lovely x

    1. Oh, do it! It could be a draw string of snap close purse. And hand stitched would be so lovely xo
