Around the garden

My little niece Miss R hanging out in the fairy garden - brushing the horses with a paint brush.

Weather wise this week it has been a little grey - spells of rain with brief bursts of sunshine.  Perfect for growing gardens really.  When a brief sunny moment hit this afternoon I popped outside to take some photos.

Everything is looking so green and lush.  The roses are out in all their glory.  My vegetable garden is finally looking like a kitchen garden.  The two raised planter boxes that now house the strawberries are starting to show off delicious ruby red fruit.  The beds of straw and shade cloth have helped I'm sure.

Plums, apricots and peaches are dancing on the branches.  They have yet to ripen and we wait patiently for them to do so.  After numerous preserving disasters this year I am certain that this coming summers crop will not go to waste and I will be able to produce a good batch of jam and chutneys.

My favourite tree in the front garden is now heavy with green leaves and is doing it's job wonderfully when days are hot and bright.  And the fairy garden is bursting with colour,  totally overgrown and looking quite magical.

Are you a keen gardener?  What is growing where you are?

  1. Your garden looks as though it is doing really well, and lots of pretty flowers which are so lovely to see. It is cold and frosty here today, no flowers or veggies in the garden - can I come and share yours! xx

  2. I've said it before and I'll say it again...you definitely live in the most beautiful place in the world! I'm not much of a gardener, though I am trying. Hubby put in some beds so we are growing spinach, beetroot, carrots, spring onion, strawberries and zucchini. Some things are doing great, the others are a little slow, but I'm enjoying it!

  3. Those roses are stunning! Right now we're growing lots of lavender and a few herbs. Our garden in the size of a postage stamp, so we have to make use of the space wisely! X Jane http://janeheinrichs.blogspot.com

  4. I love reading blogs from all over the world because I can see the opposite season from mine whenever I want to. Your flowers are beautiful and I love the look of the green hill rising up behind the swings. You live in a really beautiful place.

  6. It is wonderful to see a glance of summer when the winter is just around the corner where I live.
To answer your question, I am a terrible gardener, but secretly hope to one day turn into a really good one. By magic I hope. I do grow mostly weeds in my front garden, a place I boldly call my wildflower meadow.

    1. It is a swing. Tom usually perches himself there when I hang out the washing. He comes over for "a chat" he says :-)

  10. It is so uplifting to see some lush greenery and flowers, and blue skies. Your garden looks lovely.
Over here we are just entering the winter months and typically English, it is grey and dull outside although the mild weather so far has meant that the roses and fuschias are still flowering, some compensation for the grey.
    Enjoy your lovely weather!

  12. Lovely. Your garden is looking very productive and the roses are amazing. We have lots of lettuce and coriander coming through and the tomatoes are starting to take off, too. Your strawberries look delicious. Unfortunately the snails always seem to get to ours before we do.
